Job Description

The Associate Planner will be an integral member of the Planning Department, providing support in the development and implementation of land use policies, comprehensive plans, and development projects. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and amendment of the comprehensive plan, zoning ordinances, and other planning documents.

  • Review development proposals, site plans, and subdivision applications 

  • Conduct research and analysis on planning-related topics, including land use, housing, transportation, environmental impact, and demographic trends.

  • Engage with the community through public meetings, workshops, and hearings to gather input on planning initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, environmental science geography, public administration, or a related field.

  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with the public and other stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • AICP certification is a plus, but willing to support candidate and pay for certification after hire.
