The Chemung County Planning Department is hiring a Grants Manager to work on finding and securing funding for exciting and impactful projects. Chemung County is situated in the Southern Finger Lakes region and has a mix of urban and rural character. The Chemung County Planning Department is based in the City of Elmira and leads sustainability and climate resilience efforts as well as transportation planning and economic development. The position involves identifying potential State and Federal grant funding programs, writing and preparing grant applications, as well as administering and monitoring grant awards for compliance. The Grants Manager will create written progress reports and track payments and expenses related to grants. This is a high-level professional position that involves both working independently (when researching and crafting a compelling application) as well as collaboratively (when working with others to align with community needs). 

The ideal candidate will be well-organized and have good writing and analytical skills. A background in planning, community development, or grant writing is preferred, but willing to work with a motivated individual who has complementary skills. Experience working with non-profits or local government may count towards meeting qualifications. Salary range is $60,000 to $70,000 depending on experience and qualifications. The County offers a competitive benefits package including tuition reimbursement, medical/dental/vision insurance, enrollment in New York State retirement system, and paid time off.
