Job Overview
We are currently hiring a part-time Transportation Planner/Intern in our Multi-Moda Planning and Design group to support numerous complete streets, active transportation, and public transit projects. The preferred individual will have strong written, verbal and graphic communication skills. Working knowledge of GIS and data analysis techniques are required. The ability to work independently and collaboratively and an understanding of public engagement process are also essential. Potential tasks may include:
· Assisting with data collection and analysis (e.g., traffic/bike/pedestrian counts, transit ridership, crash data, roadway infrastructure)
· Supporting preparation of transportation reports, maps, graphics, and presentations
· Conducting research on transportation policies, plans, and best practices
· Performing basic GIS mapping and analysis
· Reviewing and summarizing public feedback from transportation projects
· Attending and taking notes at public meetings or stakeholder workshops
Qualifications
· Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related field
· Familiarity with complete streets principles, multimodal planning, and active transportation design concepts
· Experience with data collection and analysis related to walking, biking, or public transit (e.g., counts, surveys, GIS)
· Basic proficiency with GIS (ArcGIS, QGIS) for mapping and spatial analysis
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports and presentations
· Ability to conduct research on best practices, case studies, and relevant transportation policies
· Experience working on group projects, community engagement, or stakeholder outreach (academic or volunteer-based is acceptable)
